Exotrail is a space company based in France. We are developing mobility solutions for an agile space.

Our mission is to allow small satellite constellations to move in space, so that we can optimise their deployment, increase their performances and reduce space pollution. Thanks to this, a new world of telecommunication, Earth observation and space exploration will arise.

Our mobility solutions range from highly flexible high-thrust propulsion systems for small satellites (ExoMG™), mission simulation and operation software (ExoOPS™), and orbital transfer vehicles (SpaceVan™).

Exotrail launched in 2017 and has secured over 20M€ from prestigious Venture Capital funds and public grants. Our team consists of 50+ people who are passionate about disrupting the space industry. We operate out of two locations: Toulouse and Massy (suburb of Paris).

Job Description

If you want to build the next leader in space mobility, and your dream job is to provide to the space market the best space transportation solution, you have come to the right place.

As a Product Owner, you will be at the core of Exotrail's team & strategy. Your role will be to build and implement Exotrail's product strategy and help Exotrail becoming the worlwide leader in space mobility & transportation, thanks to our Orbital Transfer and On-Orbit Servicing Vehicle called SpaceVan™.

You will interface directly with all the teams of Exotrail: Sales, Engineering, Communication, C-level committee. You are at the interface of the technical and commercial world. Your role will be to:

  • Find the perfect product-market fit for our SpaceVan™ services to meet our customers needs (current and future, known to them or not known to them!)
  • Talk to customers, all the time. Your job in our global agile product development framework is to listen to the market, analyse what it says, go back to the development team, and then go back to customers with the updated version of our product and services. And repeat, forever :)
  • Build the roadmap, specify our products, in very close relationship with our Product Development team
  • Build and maintain the pre-sales tools for our Sales team (documentation, standard proposal, product configurator)
  • Watch and size the market and the competition
  • Communicate on the products & strategy of the company, outside at conferences, and inside the company!
  • Establish the go-to-market, pricing, costing, and general product strategy of the company regarding the SpaceVan™
  • Get customers and prospects feedback and feed it to relevant teams
  • Participate in bids, be the point of reference for all the technical questions that the Sales team have, and spend a lot of time with customers and at conferences
  • Ensure an excellent communication between technical and business teams

It's a Procuct Owner role during the market introduction of said product: a key element of the role is business development (in close collaboration with the Sales team) in order to bring first customers onboard the first versions of our SpaceVan™ flying in 2023 and 2024.

You will report directly to the Cofounder & Chief Product Officer. You will work in direct contact with: SpaceVan™ Sales Manager, Chief Commercial Officer, Head of Communication, VP In-Orbit Servicing, Chief Scientist, Lead SpaceVan™ Engineer, Marketing Manager, CEO.

Preferred Experience

You are an aerospace engineer with at least 5 years experience in Sales, Business Development, or Marketing within the Launch Industry.

  • You are very energetic and have a strong entrepreneurial spirit: you are driven by the ambition to put the SpaceVan™ as the leading space transportation solution in the world.
  • You have excellent interpersonnal and communication skills. This role is at the interface between Business and Engineering, you need to understand both worlds in order to succeed. You will be involved with all the departements of the company, plus customers.
  • You have a Sales and Business Development mindset in order to bring our first customers onboard
  • You have the right mix between humility and assertiveness: you accept to be wrong, you accept to question your own choices, but you know how to defend them when you believe they are the right one
  • You have a market-driven spirit : you believe innovation should serve our markets, not the opposite.
  • You like to travel: you will spend a lot of time at customers' or at conferences.
  • You have excellent analytical and technical skills: we will favor smart people able to learn quickly, over a long experience in the sector.
  • You have a very high sense of quality and you pay attention to details
